Randy de Puniet, Jérémy Guarnoni and Mathieu Gines fought a magnificent battle helped by the ever quick Kawasaki Ninja ZX10-RR and very good Pirelli tyres.
Lacking success during the last races, the riders made an fantastic return to the front of the field and took 2nd place at race end.
Fast during qualifying, Randy de Puniet was very fast as usual at the beginning of the race, positioning the Kawasaki ZX10-RR in the head of the pack. For a long time third of the race, three team-mates were consistently fast yet easy on the bike and tyres, both working very hard under the strong heat …
" In suspense during the last ten minutes ". By these few words, Gilles Stafler, Kawasaki SRC Team Manager, summarised perfectly these hard moments for the heart towards the end of the race.
Randy de Puniet delivered his analysis on this event:
" Sincerely, I had a lot of fun in this fight ! This finish is as I had imagined because when the safety car arrived on the track after a crash, I was confident and sure of myself … the second place was for us !
Then I passed into second position with 5 laps to finish which I maintained a very high rhythm while taking care to keep my position.
We should not to be disappointed with this second place because we finish within 43 seconds of ultimate victory … On an 8 hour competition, that is a small margin. I thank warmly my team-mates Jérémy and Mathieu who made a great job".
Next race to come, the « Bol d’Or » on September 15th and 16th.
